Before you move to Portland, people tell you it snows here, sure, but it never sticks. Then came the winter of 2016 into 2017, which the city called the Snowpocalypse. Neighborhood kids blocked off a steep street for sledding. The Unipiper was out showing off his shoveling skills.
The best part came between the storms, when the snow melted, froze again and sealed everything in clear ice. Every blade of grass got its own glass case. This is water at its prettiest, and also at its most likely to put you flat on your back.
